The Mission of Mujeres Unidas, Inc. is to provide education and support services to the communities faced with HIV /AIDS and other health concerns in a bilingual / bicultural familial environment.

Originally known as Mujeres Unidas Contra el SIDA (translated as Women United Against AIDS) Mujeres was founded in 1994 as a bilingual/ bicultural support group to serve Latinas (primarily Mexican-American) who were HIV-infected and/or affected in San Antonio, Texas and had no support system.

Three other groups have emerged from the women’s group, Entre Familia (Among Family) - monthly support group sessions for families to come together and receive support from other family members of people living with HIV/AIDS; weekly support group sessions for HIV-impacted women, entitled Mujeres’ Writing / Artistic Circle; and weekly support group sessions for HIV-positive Latino men who are primarily Spanish speaking entitled Amigos Sin Fronteras (Friends Without Borders).
